BAR

PAVILION

The site for this pavilion design was the Temple church. A grade listed church shell that was bombed during the Bristol Blitz in WW2. My site analysis focused on the natural environment, the flora and fauna. The concept for the pavilion draws upon  colours from the images of site, overlaid upon the site plan. The 3D form mimics the arched windows. The pavilion takes on a soft organic form which juxtaposes some of the harsh angles of the church shell.

I propose the structure be made from coloured glass, allowing visitors to view out to the church shell whilst being penetrated with colour.

The coloured glass shadows will be reflected onto the surface of the pavilion, as the sun moves around, the shadows casted  will stretch and cross over, creating a whole array of energetic patterns and colours in the bar.

The coloured panels run up from the floor and pavilion edges run in to form the bar counter and back bar, to blend seamlessly with the pavilion.
